About me
Some people search for a long time to find their professional passion, but not me. My desire to be a teacher began when I was around five years old. Friends, cousins, and siblings were my earliest students as I gathered them together in classes of my own creation every chance I got. Then in fifth grade, I had a teacher who helped shape my desire to teach in significant ways. She provided a classroom full of wonder, sense-making, and problem solving that cultivated a love of science, and from that point forward, becoming a science teacher became my professional goal. A decade later, I graduated with a degree in Chemistry Teaching from Weber State University and was hired as a chemistry teacher at Northridge High School, where I now get to share my intrinsic passion for teaching and science with the students in my classes. During my 7 years at Northridge, I have had amazing opportunities that include participating on the chemistry team to write SEEd Standards, attending the Lead with SEEd training with USBE, acting as a lead for the creation of the USBE OER Textbook for Chemistry, attending Hacking STEM with Microsoft, and being the Chemistry Lead for Davis School District. I’m a believer that childhood dreams can come true.
