About me
I was born in Guatemala from a Guatemalan father and a Costa Rican mother. Therefore, I am Guatemalan and Costa Rican. I have never lived in Guatemala, though. When I was 3 years old, my father had a Fullbright Scholarship so we traveled to Provo, Utah, where I attended Kindergarten and learned English. A couple of years later, we moved to Boston, Massachussetts, where I attended first grade. After that, my father worked for the Embassy of Guatemala in Uruguay, Peru and Costa Rica. I spent my childhood and started my teenager days in those beautiful countries. In Costa Rica I got married, graduated from the University of Costa Rica as a Special Educator, had 9 children, worked in Education and in family businessess, and moved with my family to USA in 2019 with a Visiting International Teacher work visa. I started at Bell Elementary in Tyler, Texas, and then moved to Layton, Utah in 2020. I worked at Adams Elementary and Whitesides Elementary the first year at DSD, and have been working full-time as Resource K-3 teacher at Whitesides Elementary since 2021. Now I have 12 grandchildren (11 live in Utah and 1 in Costa Rica). I love to talk about family, cultural similarities and differences, and education.
